We have put together a Radiation Protection quiz so you you can see just how strong your knowledge really is. Good luck!
Training courses can be created individually and delivered on a private basis. This approach is particularly effective for a large number of students or where discussion on company-specific issues is required.
A large, UK-wide employer required refresher training for RPSs responsible for industrial x-radiography both in enclosures and off-site. The audience was experienced radiographers, well established in their role as RPS.
The course began with presentations to review and update basic knowledge. Group exercises followed, in which the RPSs were asked to deal with relevant, but testing situations. The exercises focussed on the company's own radiography facilities.
Course duration: 2-days
A company providing contract scaffolding services on nuclear licensed sites required awareness training for classified workers. Staff had not worked with radiation previously but were required to work in areas where the radiation hazard was significant.
Students were taught the nature and effects of radiation; practical steps for reducing exposure; how personal dosimetry is managed in practice; roles and responsibilities; and why local procedures must be followed. The material was taught in an interactive classroom environment.
Course duration: 1-day
An equipment supplier requested radiation awareness training for engineers who install x-ray inspection units at his clients' premises. The radiation risk was low but the engineers worked unsupervised and had a key role to play in fulfilling the employer's obligations as a supplier and installer.
Our course covered the x-ray hazard associated with the work, how to put the legal requirements into practice while working at another employer's premises, and the relevance of the critical examination. The engineers were also taught how to use a radiation monitor and interpret the results. The format was a mix of presentations and practical work.
