Pete has over 15 years' experience in radiological assessments modelling, specialising in atmospheric dispersion modelling of radionuclides. Pete has significant experience in the application of Gaussian plume modelling and more complex and comprehensive dispersion modelling approaches within the context of radiological assessments, and was seconded to the UK Met Office to work on the NAME model for this purpose (and also has a number of publications in this field). Pete has been heavily involved in PHE's contributions to WHO's and UNSCEAR's assessments of the levels of exposure to members of the public following the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear power plant accident in 2011 (and has also published a peer reviewed paper in this field).
